Personally, I find it offensive that he can befriend Bush Sr., especially in lieu of Bush Jr., but it is understandable in a sad "playing the game" sort of way. There can be no denying that there are '08 political ambitions involved, which (again predicated on the "playing politics" component) is understandable, though (to me, anyway) quite contemptible.

Clinton either gets way too much credit or way too much blame - the truth, I think, lies somewhere in the middle.
