i believe he used the term "junior officer" to describe kerry's status in the military also. but there was nothing wrong with this. it's what kerry was. he didn't make it to general, although he became lt governor, senator. all of these things are good things. and clark worked his way up to general which he should and is proud of. dole insulted his service to country by downgrading him. to clark it was as if dole was disregarding all the hard work he did to become general.
