I remember going in to vote first thing in the morning. I went early, because I am a precinct committeeman. I had to go home to remind a few of my people to vote, and to make sure others who needed transportation got there.

I came out of the voting booth feeling so confident. I knew Kerry would win.

That was the last day I ever watched television news. I wonder at their values, as well as some of my countrymen. And I live in true-blue Illinois.
