13. I've given your response a lot of thought
and you know, here's where I am coming from.

I have no love for the man or his politics. But I think we lose credibility (and believe me there are folks reading) when we criticize the surface things. It makes us look light weight, you know? I've even read on the RW blogs a name for it: Bush Derangement Syndrome. I hate to see us play into that.

There is so MUCH to criticize this fellow for that is substantive. The list goes on and on: The war; tax cuts for his buddies; cronism; arrogance, trashing us with the rest of the world; condoning torture... I don't know why his eyes are closed. Maybe he was praying maybe he was pretending to pray.

Now, you might think WTF? So what if freepers plaster these threads all over their sites? But it really does matter. Because there are people out there who are ready to listen. Katrina did it for so many. We need to get a serious message out there, not that Bush is the devil incarnate, but that he is bad for the country and his policies should not be supported, and his party should be voted out of power. And yet if folks find their way here ready to listen, WANTING to listen, they come across this kind of cheap shot and think, geez, these guys are all nuts. Maybe what they say has no merit after all. I once posted that I wish there were a private forum for this kind of trashing, funny (and fun) as it is, because I think it really hurts us in the long run. And is this not the purpose of DU? Or am I wrong? Is DU just a place to blow off steam or is it a tool to use to get our guys back in again?

In my life I have found it often helps to play my cards a bit closer to my chest, and I've actually won quite a bit of money doing so.

But thanks for taking the time to even notice what I say!
