127. A Look Back
Demember 7th and 8th, 2004 were significant events in the run-up to January 6th. On December 7th, Common Cause and others sponsored an election forum, and December 8th, John Conyer's chaired the Preserving Democracy: What Went Wrong in Ohio forum.

As most folks here are probably aware, the Judiciary Dems published "a slam dunk" case for throwing out the Ohio electors on January 5th, 2005. {PDF version} {Order the Paperback}

The forum on December 8th was particularly significant for us because our http://january6th.org">Declaration of Intent project got some exposure at the hearing and later that day, on the Mike Malloy show.

During the public questions (mine was the last question they took) I asked the members to endorse our "Declaration of Intent Regarding Presidential Electors" and attempted to read it. They cut me off, so we didn't get the whole thing into the C-SPAN broadcast, but they did accept it into the record.

It is still posted with the other documents and statements from the hearing (toward the bottom of the page). I have no doubt that the significance of January 6th, 2005 will become clear to more people as time goes on. It is gratifying to know the declaration has a place in the record.

Being cut off was very frustrating; particularly since reading the entire declaration would have taken about 2 minutes. The back and forth as I pressed them to allow me to continue took much longer.

As luck would have it, Mike Malloy read an email that included a bit about the woman who was cut off. I called the show, got through, and Mike had me read the paragraphs I had been unable to read at the hearing.

If your interested, the show is still available in the White Rose Society Archives MalloyShow-(08-12-2004).mp3. His discussion of the hearing starts at about 35:30 (19%). my call starts at 52:30 (29%), he even kept me over the news break (show resumes at about 67:00). And, of interest to folks here, Will Pitt was also on (his bit starts at about 83:15). He was critical of people who use such forums to make speeches, and apparently classified me as such a person. On the evening of January 6th, folks gathered at DA's RFD. Later -- I think it was the evening of January 6th, but it may have an earlier date -- when I met Will, it was a kick when he realized I was "that woman."
