Bush was warned about Katrina
Right about this time last year, my wife and I were focused on the cable news in regards to the politics of the day, as always, but primarily Katrina. Bush at this time was being warned about Katrina. Watch Bush smile as he's being interviewed about Katrina on ABC news the week of the storms immediate aftermath. This was on the day he flew over the damage.

In his radio address this week Bush said "Earlier this week, I had coffee with Rockey Vaccarella in the White House. Rockey is from Saint Bernard Parish in Louisiana, and he and his family lost everything they owned to Hurricane Katrina. Rockey drove to Washington to thank the federal government for its efforts to help people like him. Rockey drove to Washington to thank the federal government for its efforts to help people like him."

Rockey, if you didn't know, is a wealthy REPUBLICAN who ran for office in Louisiana. His visit to the White House was a pre-planned PR event, not some spontaneous visit.

I'm sure Bush did help others who are like him. Bush privatized the relief efford, and some used Katrina as a get rich quick scheme, enabled by Bush's policies. Relief money was plundered by these people.

I find it interesting that on the anneversary of Katrina we now are facing a new Hurricane threat.

Will Bush again, keep his schedule of PR events during that hurricane if it hits the Gulf coast? I'm sure we all remember his PR campaign in full swing as people were dying in New Orleans, his celebration of John McCains birthday, him strumming that guitar in California after his speech about Iraq. It was a disgrace.

The greatest crisis we face as a Nation is the priority of PR over substance. That is how Republicans operate at all times now. Re-election is more important that war, more important than disaster relief, more important that justice, equality, and most of all more important than freedom.

PR as a top priority, PERCEPTION CONTROL, has created a nightmare for us all. God help us.
