INDNs are the invisible people in America and my goal as well as the goal of other pro-active Natives is and has been getting them to the polls. I see five ways INDNs can become visible in our society - through entertainment, sports, politics, journalism and lastly education, which in many ways is the first step to visibility.

So far, entertainment tops the list - How many Natives are sports figures? How many in politics? How about journalism - print media, as TV reporters and anchors? There are two tribes in my commuity and I have never seen one Native on the local newspsper staff or on TV.

I keep pushing and that is why I am so happy to see Titla make the move from journalism, where she has been a first, and now the step up to politics.
