123. Thanks for your post
To be honest, before the speech I was more supporting Obama because he was NOT Hillary Clinton. But my politics are probably to the left of most people who post on this board.

I disagree with a lot of Sen. Clinton's policies, and with the entire Clinton / DLC tactic of 'triangulation.' I also felt that she destroyed our chances to have health care reform in the early Clinton administration by being too secretive and by not being willing to allow changes in her proposal. I am especially upset with her, and a lot of other candidates, who voted for the IWR. I feel they were watching the polls instead of voting for what was right. But with that being said, I would vote for her in the general election, just as I voted for Kerry, Mondale, Dukakis, and a lot of other Democrats I did not like.

But getting back on topic - I agree with you it doesn't make you an asshole or racist if you aren't impressed with the speech as much as I was. You don't have to believe he is 'god's gift,' or whatever. I have never said that myself. I believe he is a great orator and that he would make a good, if not great president. The speech he made on race was one of the best speeches I have heard in a long time. Perhaps not on the level of 'I have a dream,' or The Gettysburg address, but still a hell of a lot better than anything I have heard from an American politician since RFK was shot. If other people don't feel that way, that's OK, as long as they support him if he wins the nomination.
