The hours and hours of coverage were overkill. I could see hour long specials because he was a journalistic institution. But hours and hours of coveraqe make me wonder about the priorities in this county. Our soldiers die all the time in Iraq--and some days it seems like a footnote.

I can't say I don't care about Russert passing on--he was a fixture for political junkies like many of us. But honestly they went overboard. Though I do suppose for everyone at NBC it was part of the group grieving process--it was strange for it to be on nationwide display for hours.

Then again I am being a bit unfair..doing what they did yesterday was perhaps the only way they could stay on the job working through their grief. So I guess I'm changing my view after a bit of reflection. They are doing what they needed to do--especially on MSNBC..
