I don't know why I was watching, maybe it's because I really love Mika Brzezinski, but I did. During the opening, Joe looked to Mika and said they had new poll numbers that were really bad for "her guy". Knowing her father supports Obama, I knew he didn't mean John McCain, so now I had to watch. Were there new polls released today I didn't know about?

So the show starts off with the MLB All-Star Game and then they discuss the top stories and work their way into the poll results. Joe starts it out by saying there is a New York Times poll and that this poll always seems to tilt to the left a few points. That left me scratching my head, because the New York Times poll actually had Obama down 2 points more than the ABC one released the same day. But, whatever, it still had Obama up!

Joe gives the results, Obama at 45, McCain at 39. Not bad, a huge issue one could look at is the fact McCain can't even break 40%, even after all this campaigning. Oh but Joe doesn't even discuss that and decides to bring up Obama's real troubles.

He starts off by saying Americans do not think Obama is patriotic. Then gives a poll where only 18% of voters say Obama is NOT patriotic. All Joe could do was focus on the top-half, the very patriotic part, where McCain was crushing Obama. Except, there was also an entirely different category of somewhat patriotic, which is still patriotic, and where Obama cleaned up. So while Americans don't think he's very patriotic (read: hum God Bless America when you're in the shower, piss red, white and blue), most still think he's patriotic. But would Joe report that? Hardly!

Then he decides to discuss a "troubling" number where only 5% of blacks approve of John McCain. He is completely befuddled by this, since how could anyone not approve of a war hero, who suffered in a POW camp? It's blasphemous! Then he suggested the blacks were inciting a race war! At this point, Brzezinski piped up and said Joe was completely wrong, but it didn't stop him from continuing. He never once mentioned the fact many whites did not approve of Obama, why? Is it justifiable for whites to not approve of Obama, Joe, but it isn't for blacks to not approve of McCain? Of course, I wish someone would have said maybe it was McCain's non-support for the MLK holiday that pissed off blacks. Or could it be the ISSUES that blacks do not agree with? Brzezinski brought this up, but Joe shot her down and basically said his POW status trumped all.

Then when I expect him to discuss McCain's troubles, the ones that actually count, he doesn't. Joe, for all the doom and gloom you had for Obama, McCain is still losing and losing on the most important issue of the day: THE ECONOMY. So even if Americans don't think Obama is VERY patriotic, they still want him over that VERY patriotic McCain. It's 1992 all over again, but Joe fails to see it. A president who's older, out of touch on domestic issues running on a more foreign policy based campaign. His opponent is a young, attractive candidate who has some problems, but ultimately wins because of the economic issues.

This is what the media doesn't get.

When it comes to domestic issues, and Americans are struggling, they will vote their pocket book over national security, bullshit patriotism and yes, even skin color and experience.

But by all means, Joe, keep focusing on what Obama's struggles and ignore that of McCain's, maybe it'll make the loss sting more if you don't expect it. And nothing will be better than watching your ugly, CHUD like face stunned on the Wednesday after the election.
