Rate the Cheney/Edwards Debate in Real Time...Freep this poll tonight!

While party hacks and pundits concentrate on how to spin the Dick Cheney - John Edwards debate in Cleveland tonight, MediaChannel.org and the Tyndall Report have created the Citizens Debate Scorecard so that viewers can beat spin doctors to the punch -- by responding in real-time via the Web.

More than 4,900 Americans of every political stripe participated in last Thursday's Bush/Kerry debate monitoring by rating the broadcast as soon as it was completed. The results from Thursday's broadcast are here.

I'm writing now to invite you to join tonight's debate panel. Complete the Debate Scorecard following tonight's live broadcast. The Scorecard asks which issues and candidate aspects were glossed over, which were examined in excess -- and which were just right. We rate the questioning skills and style of PBS moderator Gwen Ifill. And we respond to the debate format and whether it encourages a frank discussion between candidates.

Results from citizen monitoring are fed back within hours to the moderators, media outlets and the campaigns as a voter-driven guide to covering the issues that matter to Americans most. CNN, Reuters, TIME magazine, Cox News Service, Knight-Ridder and several city newspapers and TV stations have requested the results from your monitoring so please complete the scorecard tonight so that we can get your perspectives into tomorrow's headlines.

Register for tonight's debate at:

http://www.mediachannel.org/debate2004/register/

The Scorecard is online at:

http://www.mediachannel.org/vpdebate2004/

You can begin scoring there as soon as you've watched the debate. Please also forward this announcement to your contacts so that they can fill in the scorecard, too.

Stay Tuned and Ready,

Timothy Karr
