6. Well, if you really want to know . . .
I'm familiar with her history because she's from Austin and was the first female president of the school board, then mayor of Austin, (back when she was a Democrat) before she moved on to state office.

Keeton is her given name and she uses it because her dad (Page Keeton) was dean of the UT law school and the street that runs by the law school is now named "Dean Keeton Street."

Mr. McClelland (I can't recall his first name) is the father of her four sons, including Scott. She divorced him and married Mr. Rylander, who owned a chain of grocery stores that were bought out by Safeway and then Randall's, I believe. They also divorced. Then a couple of years ago, she married her high school sweetheart, Mr. Strayhorn. Their parents apparently disapproved of their relationship back then and they each married other people but he was a widower and they got back together.

She only goes by Carole Keeton Strayhorn now. I have mixed feelings about her. I liked her when she was school board president and mayor (though her voice can really grate on your nerves.) I even like some of the things she has done or proposed as comptroller, especially how she has stood up to Perry. But I can't stand that she became a republican and how she put out misleading budget figures just before the 2000 election to try to make Bush look good, then retracted them after he was elected. I think I like her better than Kay Bailey Hutchison, though, if I had to choose a republican for governor.
