3. Beyond that...

"Watching things unfold is so reminiscent of Bush's campaign...."...and expect it to continue.

The Tories will go Year Zero and make major changes quietly to take care of the corporate wishlists they have (esp. foreign ownership rules in media and finance, bank mergers, de-regs across the board).

The Tories will go about rapidly dismantling the federal beaucracy to eliminate liberal influence in the admin. levels government and whack the always NDP-backed government unions.(that ties up a lot of grassroots right there)

That will be expected and they might get a good fight...

BUT the magic of the Bush formula is make those changes but hit emotive issues to distract the public. Basically have their party livestock hammer 'culture wars' and parade the military around to support this or that US directive.

Even something at first glance like tax breaks for bus passes is BAD, as it will merely give the various transit authorities the excuse to crank up fares thinking that the 'poorest' customers are being protected by a worthless tax credit. They're fuckin' dangerous assholes with a big grudge--no doubt
