26. Barbaro will win the Triple Crown
I've doubted every recent Derby/Preakness winner but this colt is the real thing. No evidence of vulnerability, such as an inexplicable defeat early in his career. Undefeated means a great deal in this case. Tons of versatility as evidenced by the wins on grass. His pedigree is best suited to classic distance but he has points in all five categories and won't wobble a 28 second final quarter in the Belmont like Smarty did. The push button running style is ideal. He is incredibly well rested compared to the typical Derby horse and today's effort shouldn't take much out of him, in fact the opposite.

Brother Derek was routed wide the entire trip today and might challenge at Pimlico if the advantages are reversed in his favor, but I doubt it will be enough. Then the Belmont will be a very short field, and unless he gets an inexplicable poor ride or a fluke setback like Spectacular Bid's safety pin, we're looking at the second undefeated Triple Crown winner. As a huge Seattle Slew fan, I'm sure I'll cringe at the comparisons but Barbaro is legit and it's time the sport found a super horse.
