3. As a Franciscan Catholic and a lesbian
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 03:08 PM by TriMetFan
I just don't get it why people are so stupid. When my partner and I started having kids our Church had no school, but we knew that we wanted our kids to go to a Catholic school (public schools in Portland suck). We set a meeting up with our Father and he gave us names of the schools that our Church would have liked our kids to attend. So we pick the smallest one which is a Roman Catholic school. From the very get go we choose not to lie, but also not to be walking around with a neon sign over our heads that was flashing "We are GAY". After 3 years we are one of the most involved couples at the school. Our work that we do for our kids school is a big part of who we are. We have even become friends with some of the parents that were a little up tight about us. They know that they can count on us and that just because we are a same sex couple doesn't mean that we don't want the same things as straight couples do for their kids.
When I tell our friends now about other Catholics not welcoming same-sex couples, our friends are a shame that people can still be so stupid. I guess we are just lucky.
