And aware of all the subtleties that most of us have had trained out of us (blocked) early in life.

We'd be better off "living up" to them in that respect, rather than always assuming other animals are lower than us.

And their senses are more acute. Like the study that showed dogs could smell cancer when it was developing in people. They're much more useful as a tool of medicine intact and healthy than they are by being experimented on.
