As some of you have said, poor and homeless people are disproportionately represented by people of color, although I'm uncomfortable with stressing that, for rather obvious reasons.

Many gay youth are homeless because they are kicked out of their homes by freaked-out parents, so it is a natural connection with the gay movment.

The issue of homelessness touches every group in America, even the wealthy! Though they would desperately like to act as though it doesn't.

We have convinced ourselves that being educated, going to certain colleges, getting certain jobs etc. will somehow INNOCULATE us from homelessness. When in reality, all it takes is a sickness, or a loss of a job, or something and we're in the same boat. Ain't NOBODY immune from this.
