Hey, gang, I'm back!

We had such a great time in Nome. The weather was fantastic, not half as cold as last year, and I got shots of all the teams coming in except two that I accidentally slept through at about 3:30 in the morning. It'll probably take me weeks to get through all my pictures. One day alone I downloaded 3.4 gigs onto my Picture Porter! Yikes! But I will be posting as soon as I can.

It was a wonderful race this year. There were no dog deaths at all, which is always something to celebrate, and every finishing team was in Nome in time for the Mushers' Banquet on Sunday, only the second time in the race's history that they didn't need a "Red Lantern" banquet for the stragglers.

One day after the race, we took a snowmachine ride out into the hills to see one of the musk ox herds, and I think I got some pretty goods shots. We also rented a car on Tuesday and did some sightseeing around Nome, as far as we could get on the roads before the drifts covered them. It's just amazing out there.
