37. Both will suck.
There's no two ways about it. No good way for it to happen.

If you have to wait and wait and wait for things to happen slowly, you tell yourself the wait is agonizing and you wish it would just have happened suddenly, so you and she don't have to go through all this. But believe me, if you have it happen suddenly and unexpectedly out of the blue, you have no time to prepare yourself, no time to say goodbye. Nothing but stunned disbelief and bereavement.

Neither way is better. Both completely suck. And you don't ever get "over" it. You just get "through" it.
