...that stupid and mean inevitably come as a set. Some people are mean because they're stupid. Some are stupid because they're mean. But the two are like Chip n' Dale: you don't often get one without the other. Sometimes, just sometimes, you can see enough of a chink in their armor of belligerent ignorance that it might be worth taking the time and energy to crack the shell and expose the human being within to the light. But, most of the time, it's a wasted effort. You peel away layers and layers of garbage to find nothing beneath. Some people are the sum of their prejudices and nothing more.

The trick is to be able to tell the hopeful from the hopeless cases. As soon as I figure that one out, I'll let you know.
