he can tear down a smart person. It's the "mean and dumb" variation of stupidity.
One of the identifying marks of a stupid person is a readiness to ridicule an intelligent person, idea, or experience or to label that person, idea, or experience as "boring." I'm not talking about things that actually are boring, but about the type of person who has never before read a serious book/attended live theater/talked about something besides sports or celebrity gossip and refuses to do so because s/he is sure it will be "boring."
