8. We hear so much bitching about "60's values". I think it's the 80s values
that are the problem.

And it seems to me (before anyone freaks out, there are a lot of good people in this demographic, too) that many of these strutting, disconnected, overly angry assholes- the guys with the shaved heads and the Bush/Cheney pickup trucks with the oversized tires.. were raised in the 1980s. Those values of "greed is good" and "fuck the other guy" have filtered so deeply into our culture that the unthinkable has happened- the constitution is openly getting shredded, and millions of people "don't care". It was revealed by the Washington Post that US Marines killed, "execution style", children as young as one year old in Iraq.. and people just.. "don't care". They can't be bothered, not with the finale of American Idol, and all.

"Ahhh, fuck 'em"

The Government is spying on everyone- behavior that we never would have missed an opportunity to criticize if it had happened behind the iron curtain; "If you're not doing anything wrong, you shouldn't mind"

The Reagan Revolution has truly triumphed. Millions of people need to wake the fuck up, but I fear they may have lost the capability.
