I wish some of the posters on this thread would remember that Oprah was one of the very few who showed us the conditions INSIDE the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina. She was lauded on DU then (just a little over a year ago) for being the one celebrity who cut through the crap and showed us the abject suffering of fellow Americans in live TV shots, giving the lie to Mr. Bush's public statements.

How quickly some people forget.

For all the diet plans and pop-psych books she has sold on her show, Oprah can, when push comes to shove, show people reality when it is really necessary.

And, oh, by the way, she has LOST WEIGHT, in case the posters above haven't noticed. She looks fantastic. The one thing I do like about her is that she has been very public about weight and her struggles.

When those posters above do 1/100th of what this woman has done, THEN they can bitch. Until then, they can SHUT THE FUCK UP.
