1. Traditional waterboarding, strapping some to a board which pivots allowing a persons head to be submerged in water. This is by far the most serious form of water-boarding.

2. New waterboarding, is the type which you described. It still creates the effects of the first, but with less chance of laryngospasm, which is where the vocal cords close off the windpipe of a suspect.

3. Waterboarding (now called wakeboarding)
