105. Are there that many dems in NE???
I live in Omaha, and I sometimes feel my husband and I are the only ones. Though I know that's not true. :)

I called earlier in the week, and again today after seeing the notice about Kos' post urging people to call. I took a little extra time (figured why not, since I'm a constituent who voted for him) and asked why he was voting for Alito. The staffer gave me the usual answer, and I told her that it really confused me how he could support Alito, knowing the record the good judge has on things like individual civil rights and executive power. I asked her to explain this to me, and she said she couldn't, but that she'd pass along my concerns. And then I did the "please support the filibuster, or abstain from the cloture vote" thing and that was all.

But I'm feeling pretty proud of myself. I NEVER called any of my representatives (except once regarding some adoption legislation) before hanging out with all you DU'ers. You have inspired me. :)

So do call! But I would recommend not even mentioning the abortion issue. You won't win with that one. Focus on the concerns about executive power and the story about the farmer and family that was evicted. We're a rural state, and these are things that he can take back to his constituents as reasons why he changed his vote, (if he does) and hopefully they are reasons that will be acceptable because they affect the people here.
