Gates claims "I have no idea what the Iraq Study Group report says"

Because he resigned "before they (ISG) began deliberations"

The Iraq Study was formed when?

March 15, 2006

"The Iraq Study Group (ISG) was launched on March 15, 2006 at a meeting on Capitol Hill."

Gates was nominated as Secretary of Defense when?

November 8, 2006

Eagleburger replaced Gates on the ISG when?

November 10, 2006

Gates spent 8 months as a member of the Iraq Study Group.

Apparently, in all that time, the ISG never once deliberated about Iraq.

On November 30, 2006, the ISG announced they would release their report on December 6th.

So between March 15, 2006 and November 8, 2006 the ISG never once deliberated what to do about Iraq. The ISG didn't do much studying - at least not with Robert Gates around.

Even though Baker and Hamilton said of
Gates' contribution to the ISG:

"Both Baker and Hamilton praised Gates’ efforts on the Iraq Study Group, saying he had made significant contributions during his eight months as a member."

Reported "leaks" from the ISG:

October 16, 2006

November 3, 2006

November 27, 2006

December 1, 2006

December 2, 2006
