My son was a young teen walking through the college campus here. He'd picked up a few dollars helping to set up for a series of concerts. He noticed a woman sitting alone under a tree with many colors of ribbons in here hair. He told her his mom wore ribbons like that sometimes, he'd never seen anyone else wearing ribbons that way.

She invited him to join her. They spent an hour or so talking about this and that. Weather, politics, music, life, ideas. Then they both had other places to be.

He came home and asked me if I knew this lady, Joan Baez. He told me how nice and smart and funny she was and about their talk and that she was singing there that night.

My son was also nice, smart and funny...but it really says something when a "star" shares time with a teen age kid that way. It says a lot about her person.
