One of the murals inside the building was begun by Rivera (Communist)--and his work was definitely a tribute to Marxism. As the work progress, someone noticed that a laborer in the picture looked a lot like Lenin and the s**t hit the fan. Rockefeller was livid and fired the artist. Shortly afterward the mural was destroyed--before the public saw it--and new art replaced the offensive piece.

Sounds like Batty Beck did a teensy bit of research, then stretched it into a huge spider web to catch his fearful audience.
