62. Clark is kind of the best of two worlds for us
He has Chicago roots but then he grew up on Little Rock, before leaving Arkansas to serve his nation around the country and the world. We can call Clark a southerner, but his identity is actually a national one, tied to a national institution, not to state and regional politics. Which is the case with Vice President Gore now also. It's not the same as a George W. Bush or John Edwards each claiming the mantle of "the southerner seeking the Presidency" from their respective political parties.
