21. Stossel is being an AH tonight! Have any of you ever gone to a
doctor just because you had insurance and could spend someone elses money?????? Have you EVER ASKED for a procedure that your Dr. didn't recommend, just because...????

How the hell can he compare HC ins. with something so absurd as food insurance?????

I don't live in Canada, and I don't know anyone who does, but A sure have seem MANY posts on DU where Candadians have said THEY love in HC they have!

I'm sure in every system there are some situations you could point to and say "SEEEEE!!!!! I told ya!" But if this were the standard, I'm sure I would have heard about it by now.

The other thing I would like to tell Stossel is that when he asked all those Americans if they were happy with their Health insurance and they said yes, did he ask them if they ever had to USE IT???? See, I always would have said I was happy with my HC too, until I broke my leg last Sept. Yes, I received all the treatment I should have, and I was very pleased with it too! THEN I started receiving all the bills! I could have lived with the $100 copay I had to pay because they didn't keep me overnight. BUT everybody bills you separately! The bills totaled $2,500, and the only reason the # stopped there is because there is a cap on the amount of out of pocket expenses you must pay per year. Funny thing was, in January, the Dr. said he had to take the pin out of the one side. Of course because it was a new year, the deductibles and out of pocket started all over again and it was another $580! I can live with th $25 office visit copay, and even the $100 ER charge if they don't keep you overnight, but I can't afford $2,500 every year! Now if someone asks if I'm satisfied with my HC Insurance, I don't answer yes!!!
