Thieves Drill Into Gas Tank Of Local Woman's SUV

CLEVELAND - With gas prices well above $4 a gallon, thieves have taken notice, with some going to dangerous extremes to steal gas.

No longer sticking to merely siphoning gasoline from tanks, some thieves are climbing under cars and actually drilling into the gas tanks to drain the gas.

It's extremely dangerous and becoming more common, reported NewsChannel5's Dan Haggerty.

Jennifer Gentile drives an SUV that hold a lot of gas. A full tank is worth nearly $100.

A price, for some, that is worth a big risk. Gentile found out while filling up at the pump.

"One of the attendants looked down, and there was a small hole that looks like a drill bit went in," she said.
