I think you nailed it!

I have been trying to figure out WHY these dumbasses are so fucking concerned. I mean seriously, even they can't possibly believe that it will ruin their OWN marriage.

Nope, it's the contest side of things, just like when whites didn't want blacks in professional sports, and guys didn't want ladies in the service academies and etc. etc. This is the same thing, they are afraid they will "lose" or whatever.

Anyway, thanks for the insight...this has been bugging me, and I feel you have cut to the essence of it.
