I somehow don't think he's truly evil, and I think he can redeem himself. I hope he gets the chance. None of us is totally innocent of any wrongdoing in our lives, none of us has been perfect.
And, not to diminish the lives or suffering of the dogs, but he got a tougher sentence than many who wound and maim fellow humans. IMHO, his race and high profile were used against him.
