I am one of those who is not overly pleased with President-elect Obama so far and one of the real sticking points was his support of Lieberman's retention of his Chairmanship of a most important Committee. However I understand that a 60-seat majority in the Senate is possible and he was probably trying to attain that end.

If it is the case that Obama supported Lieberman in an attempt to get the 60 votes then there is no excuse what so ever for him not to head to Georgia and to essentially live there (his staff can continue the work of populating Washington from Georgia as well as anywhere else) until Martin has been elected over Saxby. His absence of presence and support is noticeable - very noticeable, surrogates will not do. If he wants a friendly Senate he has to get out there and do 2 more weeks worth of campaign work, its not over with yet.
