...of making all of the spending cuts the Republicans are advocating. The Republicans have done a great job of pointing at the gas tax increase. However, the Democrats have failed to articulate the logical consequence of eliminating the $41 billion deficit without tax increases. For examples, highways projects would be shut down mid-stream. Law enforcement would be dramatically cut, and California's ability to respond to national disaster would be crippled. Schools face closure, and class sizes will increase, as teachers are laid off.

In other words, the Democrats need to paint in crystal clear terms the consequences of the Republican No-Tax alternative.
