5. His Bill Is DOA...
This is just the end of the circle jerk...a part of the process that has to play out. Many here seem to miss civics class but President Obama tried to let the legislative legislate...take the lead on this matter. It would have been a lot easier if he had willing partners on the other side but without going through this process how would we know? If anything, he now also knows whose his real friends in the Democratic party are as well.

The focus was on Baccus cause his committee would put the bill through its toughest paces and "conventional wisdom" said if it made it through the committee it'd pass the full Senate. It didn't work out that way. There were GrASSley and Enzi playing their games...teasing to stay relevant but never going to agree on anything short of what the insurance companies wanted. Sadly the same went with Baccus who tried to paper things over but we know whose side he's on.

The bill now is one of four...two in the Senate...one which is Senator Kennedy's and then Baccus' piece of shit. Hopefully the pressure will be applied to get the Kennedy bill past cloture and the Baucus mess will be forgotten.

The key tonight will be how President Obama addresses the public option...the stronger he endorses it, the worse it looks for Maxie.
