90% of them are operating as churches so I think that the brain washing goes deep. Once they get a perverted version of the Bible and a very white Jesus fed to them by the pastors and their own prejudices are appealed to, it's not that hard to make them cross the line into distrusting the government and convincing them that they don't have to be law abiding to that government, and that they should be armed and ready for a revolution when the time comes.
