Hamsher is on a witch hunt for Rahm Emanuel's head. So much so, she's enlisted the help of Grover Norquist. Here's an excerpt of the letter they sent to the AG:

We write to demand an immediate investigation into the activities of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

...snip...

If the Treasury approves the $800 billion commitment to Fannie and Freddie by the end of the year, it will mean that under the influence of Rahm Emanuel, the White House is moving a trillion-dollar slush fund into corruption-riddled companies with no oversight in place. This will allow Fannie and Freddie to continue to purchase more toxic assets from banks, acting as a back-door increase of the TARP without congressional approval.

...

Sincerely,

Jane Hamsher

Now today, on FDL's front page, is Denis Kucinch, announcing he'll investigate the Treasury department's decision to approve the $800 billion commitment to Fannie/Freddie.

This is about transparency and oversight? I think not. It's about an attention monger who has picked up the cause of a blogger who has proclaimed herself a leader of the progressive movement and sided with the likes of Grover Norquist. Unfortunately, Kucinich doesn't realize he's being used.

Norquist is smart. He's picked two of the most popular members of the far left and has used them to lead the charge to take out the Chief of Staff. And he's got many people here signing on. Well played Grover, well played.

Let's spend tens of millions of dollars on another Whitewater investigation that will uncover nothing and instead impede legislative and policy progress. Yes, this is anything but progressive. It's down right destructive. And it's exactly what the GOP wants.
