My Swedish grandpa didn't have a great life exactly (he was mostly poor) but he didn't face that prejudice at least. I wish no one ever had to face that.

He did get sent to the fields after the 2nd grade though to work the family farm and never did get any more education than that, plus he was starving during the depression when the wheat prices collapsed. Luckily he got a job through one of FDR's programs, to work on the Hungry Horse dam in Montana. That saved him and my mother and Aunts and Uncles from ruin.
