when I renewed my prescription for Lipitor at local pharmacy(no RX insurance, pay for our drugs upfront). Many of our prescriptions run $10 for a 90-day supply, so good for us. Lipitor isn't one of them. Price had nearly quadrupled since last refill. I asked the pharmacist why, and he said the pharmaceutical company had raised their prices as of January 1, 2010. This price hike has absolutely nothing to do with Obamacare. Lipitor goes generic at some point in 2010, so the drug company is just trying to rake in as much profit as possible before generic alternatives finally become available in the U.S. (as they are in every other country in the world already). Another word for that to describe big Pharma would be greed. I told my pharmacy I'd get my Atorvastatin from Canada in the future: cost from Canada about a buck a pill instead of $4.00/pill in U.S. Works for me.
