Politically, the Arizona immigration business couldn’t be timed better for the Democrats. This is why the Dems in Congess will bring up an immigration bill before the fall - to force the Republicans into a corner. Make the GOP as a whole embrace the Arizona position; and for every well-argued rationale for it, you’ll get the inevitable ugly right-wing outbursts - and that inded will rally the Latino (and black) vote.

Just wait ’til the tea partiers start rallying in favor of Hating the Brown People. The signs will be priceless; and that’s where the Dems turn not merely to minority voters but white suburban types, middle class with kids and say - do these people represent you and your values?

This is why Drudge and the right will whine incessantly about “the race card” - because they know they can’t tamp down on the ugliness, in fact they have to embrace it. And it will be so unfair for anyone to point this out.

Call the Waaahmbulance.
