I think of their parents. If I were in the parents' place and found out my son had done something vile, it would make me seriously doubt if I had raised my child properly. Among other things, I must have failed to instill in him a sense of compassion or how to distinguish right from wrong, and how to resist the "going along with the crowd" mentality.

Granted, these are adults (although in years only, obviously) but as a mother, whenever I hear of such things, I wonder what sort of family the perpetrators come from. Was nastiness and cruelty condoned as they were growing up? Cowardice, so they have to find strength in numbers in addition to picking a victim younger and weaker than themselves?

That said, I hope they get the book thrown at them. What a bunch of cowardly, pathetic asswipes.
