My partner has nearly always been self-employed. We pay an extra 8% self-employment tax. And nearly $900 a month for health insurance for high deductible taxes. Partner's income varies quite a bit and we can't save for the future AND pay health insurance AND keep up with taxes.

Where you're wrong is that nobody who is struggling and self-employed wants to end the S.S and the safety net programs.

People who are struggling to support themselves wanted a better health care reform bill, possibly including Medicare for all.
