159. Yes, double standards...
"Racism and crazy white reaction is not limited to conservatives and to pretend otherwise does us no favors. "

But the article indicts all whites... Would you say Glenn Beck represents all whites? Or that Al Sharpton represents all blacks?

"Somehow as a white person I manage to survive the horrible double standards I face in society (namely, writing newspaper articles about how horrible minorities are) while minorities continue to lag behind in every social indicator. They are now being told it is about class not race. BS -- race is constantly being pushed to the back of the bus by those who really wish it would just go away. "

A double standard is a double standard, period. And as far as I can tell, not all minorities lag behind in every social indicator. Asians are ahead of whites in quite a few.

It makes no sense to respond to me by listing all the double standards that minorities face when I never said they didn't. Still doesn't change the fact that there is a double standard on DU and your response is a classic way to deflect from the real issue. Is it a horrible, serious double standard? Not really. But it is one nonetheless, and when it comes to politics, it's nice to try to stay consistent with your beliefs if you can.
