Look, he is a republican, and as such, I have no love for the guy.

But, my read is that he 1) knows a debt ceiling has to be passed for the sake of the country 2) knows that if one does not get passed, not even the corporate media is going to be able to provide the republican party cover for the consequences. I think he knows he is dead as speaker either way, and he will do what has to be done.

I don't see how this does not end with him having to put a bill up in the house that is supported mostly by democrats and whatever 20+ republicans that are in safe seats and can ride out a primary from a teabagger ...
