4. my brother lives in Tampa
and he claimed that with $150 and a 10 minute drive, he could pick up a scrip from a pill mill for Oxycontin.

he says these places work like this:

you see a doc, usually an out of state doc who has retired down there, he writes the scrip, you walk out the door, go next door to the pharmacy that's affiliated with the clinic and you get it filled.

My father, the doctor, called bullshit claiming that his DEA # was only valid in his state of licensure yada yada yada so we went for a drive. We pretended we were cops and sat across from a clinic having coffee and donuts and watched, in the matter of 30 minutes no less than 20 people walk into the clinic and do exactly as my brother described: in/out/pharmacy next door and down the road.

Obviously we had no direct proof that they picked up oxy but the sign said "pain clinic" and "walk ins welcome" so I doubt they were there for their cholesterol pills.

My brother claimed that these docs could pull down $150K in 90 days (about how long it takes the state to shut them down), all in cash and that's a nice little boost to one's retirement fund.
