But maybe it does. My point is that nothing could screw the GOP right now as badly as a Palin candidacy. It would throw their primaries into disarray and either result in (1) Palin being nominated (no easier candidate to beat in the general election); (2) Palin being beaten back by the GOP elites, and her followers being alienated from the GOP in the process; (3) the implosion of the Palin media machine and the end, at long last, of her 15 minutes of fame; or, best of all, a Palin 3rd-party run that would hopelessly split the GOP vote. Any of these outcomes should thrill a Democrat; why shouldn't the DNC be actively stoking that fire?
