Unless you have some sort of autoimmune deficiency - standard germs that you encounter every day will not effect you much.

I always laugh at the toilet seat covers - the only way that you could get a disease from a toilet seat (the human skin blocks out most everything) is if you sat down before the other guy got up.

Some folks have a need to be cautious due to immunity issues - the rest are just being silly.

Obviously, this is just my opinion and mileage may vary.
