15. It wouldn't surprise me if SAT NITE LIVE did something on those lines.
I was being a smartass, but basing it on what I heard from people close to the situation.

I used to fart around on the Hill as part of my work back when all this was happening. I knew a lot of people in the SECDEF shop where Monica was stashed, and I also was on a "friendly wave/light chat/pleasantries" basis with a lot of Hill staffers on both sides of the aisle, including a few in the Speeeekah's office.

There was a lot of dissatisfaction with Newt from his own staff, and they contributed -- more than is realized -- to his downfall. A lot of them were "true believers" and they were outraged at his behavior, particularly while he was excoriating Clinton for the very same shit. Plus, a lot of them had a real problem with Calista (unqualified worker with too much clout because she was screwing the boss) and liked Wife Number Two, and some of them ratted him out to his former Missus. Their "heads up" enabled Marianne to get a VERY good settlement out of Newt; way more than half, in fact.

This is an amusing interview w/Esquire--it has a confessional tone, but I think it barely scratches the surface in some regards and glosses over other matters as well (and I am quite certain there is plenty I don't know, either):
