Mortimer Benjamin "Mort" Zuckerman (born June 4, 1937)<1> is a Canadian-born American magazine editor, publisher, and real estate billionaire. He is a naturalized citizen of the United States.

In 2008, Zuckerman was the 147th wealthiest American<2> and, in 2007, the 188th<3> per Forbes. In 2006, he was ranked 382nd.<4> The increase was related to the sale in 2007 of 5 Times Square and 280 Park Avenue in New York, which together realized US$2.5 billion for his company, Boston Properties, Inc.<5>

On July 12, 2010, Zuckerman claimed in an interview that he helped to write one of President Barack Obama's political speeches...

Public Sector Workers Are the New Privileged Elite Class
Outrageous public pay, pensions, and inherent corruption are enraging private sector America
By Mortimer B. Zuckerman

We really are two Americas, but not those captured in the stereotypical populist class warfare speeches that dramatize the gulf between the rich and the poor. Instead there is a new division in America that affronts a sense of fairness. That division is between the workers in the private sector and the workers in the public sectors. No guesses which is the more protected....

A fundamental rethinking of the public workforce is necessary. Americans will not continue to tolerate public employee pay and benefit levels that dwarf those of the private sector.

Americans cannot maintain their essential faith in government if there are two Americas, in which the private sector's work subsidizes the disproportionate benefits of this new public sector elite.

It would be laughable if it wasn't so fascist.

Yeah, Zuck, we can't have two americas, one of privileged elites & one of poor schmucks who can be impoverished at the drop of a billionaire's panties.

Schmuck's answer for the (imaginary) differential between "elite" public workers & private workers = turn them all into minimum wage, unbenefited workers. They'll all be better off when they're all equally poor & unprotected.

No word yet on his plans for his own "elite"
